Emu's Passive Pod rendering

We’re Passive Pod people. Are you?

Meet the latest development in our hands-on Certified Passive House Tradesperson (CPHT) builder training class and workshop:

The Emu Passive Pod

Passive Pod diagram

Throughout our upcoming advanced CPHT course this Feb 19-23 in Denver, Colorado, student builders will apply their learning to the construction of a self-contained mini Passive House Pod. In keeping with the class learning objectives, they’ll be able to get their hands dirty trying out different products in a brand-neutral environment.

Why a Pod instead of the usual wall mockup?

What’s the best way to study a building envelope? To have an actual sealed envelope! Once they’re built, we’re going to test them with an infrared camera for insulation/thermal bridges and a blower/smoke test for airtightness. Then we’ll compare results with a Pod “built to code” (boo, hiss) to see just how much of a difference building #PassiveHouse really makes.

We present unbiased info about all Pod products.

Almost all of the products used in the Passive Pods have been donated by manufacturers who support the #BuildPassive movement. They know that at Emu we speak about the good, the bad, and the ugly of all your options on the market, and we back our word with scientific research.

A big thank you to all of our Product Partners, especially those who have donated so far to this year’s Passive Pod:
