Passiven House proof of concept 1:1.
.
At the end of every Boot Camp, we test the resiliency of the Pods and compare it to the one of a Pod built to meet the 2021 Energy Code.
.
By resiliency, we mean the ability of a building to remain comfortable even when conditions suddenly change.
.
In the Boot Camp, we heat up all Pods for the same amount of time, with the same 250W heating lamp.
.
We then turn the heating off, and move the Pods outside to simulate a failure of the heating system.
.
Over and over, the Pods built to the Passive House standard greatly outperform the Pod built to Code.
.
This is not about energy efficiency, it’s about protecting people.
.
This time it was more interesting as one of the Passive Pods had an actual failure in their heating lamp, and we had to replace it during the test.
.
It still outperformed the Code Pod, and stayed 11.4’F warmer after a night of no heating.
.
On the other hand, the winner of this Resiliency Test was Chipmunk!!!
.
Their Pod remained the warmest of all, meaning it was better insulated and air sealed than the other Passive Pods.
.

Team Chipmunk RULES!!!!!!!!!
