We are super excited to announce that we have been invited to deliver our 4-day hands-on Passive Design/Build Boot Camp at Yestermorrow in Vermont this summer! We’ll be there July 31 - Aug 4, and all registrants will have the opportunity to take the accreditation exam to become a PHI Certified Passive House Tradesperson in September. All registration, including room and board, are being handled through Yestermorrow’s website. So head on over and join us for a little summer retreat!

Our next-gen 2023 Emu Passive Pod Workshop is running wild around America, folks! This unique, unsponsored, advanced building science learning experience is open to all design/build and construction professionals interesting in implementing building science on site. Students in the Pod Workshop will be assigned to Teams Moose, Bobcat, Chipmunk, or Black Bear. Teams will choose from both residential AND commercial wall assemblies. Teams will do a flangeless middle-of-wall installation of tilt-turn #passivehousewindows. And then we will test the Passive Pods for performance relative to each other and to the Code Pod.

Flashback time 📸 ! Remember that time, back in 2017, when we let our Happy Hour attendees name our table-top #PassiveHouse teaching tool?

That’s right! The inaugural version of Emu’s unique Passive Pod was actually a small box with an insulated glass unit. At one of our Happy Hours when we officed in Denver @tradecraft.industries , we put the new name of this structure up for a vote! Lubricated by beer, there were many excellent suggestions. One of our favorites was the Colorado Hot Box 😂. But when the votes came in, the people expressed their desire for…. “Mitch”. We added “The” for formality.

The Mitch was small but mighty, and was used as our hands-on compliment to our classroom content for about a year before we upgraded to larger #PassivePod on wheels and with a full tilt-turn window install. Now we have an even more developed version combining both residential and commercial assemblies, and traveling all over the US in our Wild Emu Podwagon.

Mitch, you are not forgotten. And thank you for beginning our workshop journey with us. 🧡🧡🧡
