The Passive House standard in North America is governed by two different certifying bodies: the International Passive House Institute (PHI), for which there is a local affiliate – North American Passive House Network (NAPHN), and the Passive House Institute U.S. (PHIUS).
The short version is that they are two different standards with different sets of procedures and requirements, both applicable to building in North America for all of our climate zones. Emu’s work is always executed with the international standard as our benchmark, as we continue to work both in the United States and abroad with project teams and manufacturers.
