Emu’s COVID-19 Measures for Passive Pod Workshops
PLEASE NOTE: We politely ask all of our students to consider whether or not they have symptoms of COVID-19 or have been exposed to anyone that has tested positive. If either of these is the case, please do not come to any in-person training event. We will be happy to reschedule you. Thank you!
To learn more about the measures Emu is taking to prevent the spread of COVID-19 at our events, please read below. If you have any comments or suggestions, please email training@emu.systems.

Emu’s Passive Pod Job Role Simulation:
Emu’s workshops are designed to mimic, as best as possible, some of the hurdles you will face on the job site in trying to implement Passive standards. Everything is intended to promote integrated team communication and definition of roles and responsibilities. COVID19 is another hurdle we need to face as an industry, which can be effectively addressed through communication and definition of roles. Each team will have no more than 6 people, with no need for more than 2 people to ever be handling the Pod pieces at the same time. For each exercise, there will be a Supervisor who is in charge of prepping the team and directing which Subs are working on the Pod. We ask you all to respectfully distance yourselves, as you would on the job site and as recommended by local and federal authorities.
Venue and Workshop Schedule Considerations:
We are dedicated to finding outdoor or semi-outdoor venues for our future Passive Pod Workshop trainings. In addition to scheduled breaks throughout the sessions, if anyone needs to step away from the group to remove their mask and get fresh air, they are welcome to do so. As per recommendations listed below, please wash hands upon return to the group. In the event that we cannot secure an outdoor or naturally ventilated venue, we will be using the spacious, indoor Emu facilities at Thrive Workplace. Class sizes will be capped to allow us to offer distancing, and we will have frequent breaks with easy access to the outdoors.
Required Personal Protection Equipment:
As per CDC and OSHA recommendations, we will be providing students with cloth face masks that will need to be worn at all times when inside the Training area. We will also provide gloves and goggles, but students are also welcome to bring their own protection equipment. Any additionally requested measures need to be brought to our attention well in advance. If anyone has medical concerns about wearing a cloth mask, you may attend with your own face shield as an alternative solution.
Hand-washing and Respiratory Etiquette:
Emu training events will have facilities for hand-washing available on site, and we will review proper respiratory etiquette prior to starting class. CDC recommends frequent hand washing of at least 20 seconds upon arrival and prior to departure, before and after using the toilet, after close interaction with other people, after contacting shared equipment or tools, before and after wearing masks and gloves, and after blowing nose or sneezing. Follow good respiratory etiquette by covering your mouth and nose with a tissue or the crease of your elbow when you sneeze or cough.
Cleaning and Disinfection:
Emu will provide cleaning wipes for training participants to have access to. We will also be wiping down all shared tools in between Units/Lessons.
