Certified Passive House Tradesperson (CPHT)
Emu offers the Certified Passive House Tradesperson exam as part of the Passive House Boot Camps, and also separately online (see dates listed above).
Builders, Architects, and Other Professionals – Not just Trades
Typical audience for the CPHT Passive House certification exams include builders, architects, and other professionals. The term “Tradesperson” is a translation from German (this exam is recognized internationally).
What Is The Exam Like
The exam consists of three parts:
- Passive House Basics
- Building Envelope
- Building Services (mechanical systems)
To pass the exam, you are required to pass the Passive House Basics section, and at least one of the other sections (i.e. Envelope or Services). Your Passive House certificate will show which specializations you passed in the exam (i.e. Building Envelope, Building Services, or both).
What Is The Exam Like
The exam is live, online, proctored remotely by Emu on designated dates (see top of page), or during Emu’s Boot Camps. Emu’s Slide Deck is allowed during the exam (other books or materials are not). Please note that the exam is provided through a safe exam browser, and you will not be able to access online resources during the exam (you won’t be allowed to use your phone, either).
