Venue Requirements for Emu Training Events

Home » Venue Requirements

Emu strives to make our Passive House training accessible for small group learning by relying on donated venues.

It is our priority to ensure a positive student experience. We require a video call and physical site visit by an Emu prior to confirming any venue.

Venue Requirements:

Day 1+2: Building Science Course Course

  • ability to comfortably and spaciously seat 25-40 people on classroom-style tables
  • Audio/Video (projector or large monitor)
  • extra table for Trainer at front of room
  • access to bathroom / hand-washing facility

Day 3+4: Hands-on Passive Pod Workshop

  • +1400 sq.ft. of clear indoor space, so that 6 teams of 4-6 students have room for the Pod frame pieces and an Emu folding table for supplies and cutting surfaces, and we have an area for the materials storage
  • Preferably concrete/hard floor (Pods are 500lbs each. Mineral wool insulation will be swept up in between Units). We have done this on carpet; we clean up after ourselves.
  • ADA accessible with the ability to park the 18-foot Emu trailer reasonably close to the room, with at least one 36″ wide door.
  • Power/electrical hookup.
  • Access to bathrooms and hand-washing station.
  • Ability to leave Pods and Emu trailer overnight securely on site for the duration of the Boot Camp.
  • Accessibility to the facility on Load In and Load Out days (over weekends).
  • Ability to bring our own food in, and not use a prescribed caterer.
  • Note: we do not use power tools except electric drills; all students sign a Waiver with Emu Passive.
